Artist Profile
I am a Kiwi artist and photographer who is torn between two passions: painting and photography.
Stunning scenery, abundant natural resources and friendly people make up the backdrop of my artistic pursuits. I adore the processes of both painting and photography, the way these disciplines make me think about my life and my surroundings. I imagine if I stayed in this area all my life I would never exhaust the wonderful images I can gather up, interpret and share.
"...life is not only a pleasure but a kind of eccentric privilege" G.K.Chesterton
The act of applying oil color to canvas is soothing. It has a tactile component that keeps me as content and focused as a child making mud-pies; photography is more cerebral but it appeals to my need for instant results even though post processing can be time consuming. I am also an extreme color-junkie. With every picture I see, photograph, or paint it’s the color that grabs me first. Then there are the tonal contrasts. With the lights and darks I try to beckon you to look in places you've never thought about before. To be transported to another place...
